Jim Dunn He was born in 1923 as the eighth child to a poor tenant sharecropper family. As a boy he picked cotton for 18 hours a day in the Adirondacks of Northern New York state. When he was 6 he learned to play the geetar and at age 7 he started supporting his family by singing country blues songs that my grandpappy taught me. During the depression, he sang and played each evening at the "Chestertown Pool and Whiskey House" for a saltine and a drink of lemonade. In 1948, he was on "The Ted Mack Talent Hour" and placed second. In 1975, he met a young lady named Carolyn that played bass guitar, of course, the rest is history! Note from the webmaster: Jimmy is full of it!!! |
